This was one of the first places we visited when we arrived on the Sunshine Coast! So many people we spoke to knew the Sunshine Coast for “The Ginger Factory”, it’s an iconic place on the coast, well known for visitors and locals alike.
You can enter for free and check out the store on entry and grab some ginger treats, eat at the garden cafe and let the kids play in the park adjoining it. You can wander through the gardens, get a picture with the big ginger bread man and browse through the cute little shops. There is an oversized game of snakes and ladders you can play too, just ask on arrival.
While there, you can also purchase tickets for a train ride on Moreton, the 115 year old cane train with open carriages that takes you on a ride through the gardens. You can watch a live bee show which we enjoyed, take a ginger factory tour and take the kids on an undercover boat ride ‘around the world’ while the kids look for ‘gingerbread men’ hiding around the edges. Both the train ride and the boat ride are fairly short, and my younger kids always really enjoy them (we had the annual passes). You can also get some ice-cream and snacks there and make your own gingerbread man with your kids.
During the school holidays there is usually something fun happening at the Ginger Factory so check out their website to keep up to date with their holiday events.
Some of my home garden has been inspired by the beautiful tropical plants throughout the Ginger Factory, I hope you enjoy it there as much as we do!
