Kevin Asmus Park, Buddina

Behind the Kawana Shopping World and next to the Kawana Library is a great kids playground.

The first thing to love about it is there is shade to sit under!

The park has a big ship in the middle of a field, with sand all around it, a slide going off, and the kids can get up it by a ramp or climbing up.

Around the ship are concrete bike or scooter paths with cute little “stop” and “give-way” signs, as well as little “fish and chip shop” and “petrol stand” for the kids to stop and play at. Anything that encourages creativity is a win in my books!

There is a swing set, but no shade over it so it can get hot.

There is seating, but only one picnic table, so if you plan to have a picnic bring a rug just in case it’s taken. There are some beautiful trees that provide shade you could have a picnic under while the kids climbed them!

Bring a ball for the open field next to the park, or head into the library next door and borrow a few books. You will have to be a member to borrow the books, but if you’re not you can still read them inside. This is where you will find the toilets to this park too.

If your facing the park from the road, just walk straight (towards the school) and you will find a beautiful community garden, you can’t take the produce unless you have been part of the community project to grow it – but have a wander through it and show the kids how our food is grown, and what a healthy community can look like working together.

We love this little park 🙂

Bring scooters, bikes, skateboards and helmets for the small track around the park

Bring sun-cream and a hat as only the big ship and a bit around it is shaded

Toilets are in the library section, if it is out of library times they are shut – and the closest ones we have found are at Kawana beach or back into the shopping centre (so don’t leave it to the last minute!).

If your local, it’s free to join up to the library and they have beautiful books to borrow.
